About Cactus Leather
Cactus leather is a cactus-based biomaterial. Developed by young Mexican entrepreneurs in the state of Jalisco, the material offers multiple environmental benefits in comparison with other vegan leathers, either plant based (better transpiration and flexibility) or polyurethanes (toxic chemical-free). On the other hand, cow leather has nearly three times the environmental impacts of its vegan counterparts. Not to mention that cattle ranching is the largest driver of deforestation in the world’s tropical forests.
Cactus leather is:
ORGANIC
Comes from organic certified cactus plantations. It is herbicide free and pesticide free. So much so that all the remaining organic cactus material not used in the manufacturing process is exported and sold nationally in the food industry.
